March is also Colorectal Awareness Month. This preventable cancer, and the screening tests, have ‘come out of the closet', resulting in patients initiating the conversation.
If you are over 50, two types of screening tests are encouraged-
1-COLONOSCOPY EVERY 10 YEARS OR
2-STOOL CHECK FOR HIDDEN BLOOD (HEMACULTS YOU DO AT HOME) EVERY YEAR
We have copies of a brief educational DVD (Amer Cancer Society) that you may take home and view. Just stop by and pick one up if you want to learn more about colon cancer prevention.
