JUNCTION MEDICAL E-MAIL POLICY
Using e-mail to communicate with our office is a great way to access our practice anytime of any day.
We will make every effort to respond to your e-mails within 24 hours of receipt, usually before the end of the current business day. Weekend and holiday e-mails will be answered the next business day.
Although e-mail is fast, efficient, and convenient, it does have some limitations in our practice:
- Patient e-mail communication, both incoming and outgoing, is not encrypted, therefore e-mails could run a small risk of being intercepted.
- Appropriate use of e-mail communication with our office includes:
- Requests for appointments
- Requests for medication refills
- Non-urgent medical advice or questions
- Requests for test results
- Billing and insurance questions.
E-mail communication should not (never, ever) be used in the following circumstances:
- Advice for an urgent or emergency medical condition - CALL 911
- Sensitive and private health concerns:
- Mental health issues
- Drug and/or alcohol problems
- HIV and other sexually transmitted infections
- Communication of test results that, in the opinion of the physician, require private face-to-face discussions and explanations
E-mails definitely have a place in expanding our access and communication with you, but they are not a substitute for a face-to-face visit with our physician.
